Hi there and welcome! I’m Iva – a mom and passionate hobby herbalist, and I’m also the voice behind lifeandschool.com. Like many mom bloggers, my journey to become a blogger has been anything but ordinary – and I’m so happy to share it with you!
My Health Journey
I earned a Master’s degree in Economics from the Free University of Berlin, Germany. After my studies, I worked as an advisor in the corporate world and, because of my job, I lived and worked in different countries. I speak five different languages and I love traveling. While the world of business was both stressful and exciting, it didn’t truly feel like my calling. My heart and my health eventually led me somewhere completely different.
At 25, I was diagnosed with pituitary adenoma that was causing adrenal insufficiency (low cortisol level). At 28, I was diagnosed with Graves’ disease, and it began a long, challenging journey with my health. Dealing with this autoimmune condition was overwhelming and working in a stressful environment in my corporate jobs was not helpful either. I was trying conservative treatments for years. They helped partially, but eventually unlocked other autoimmune conditions. When I became a mom, I also had to navigate insulin resistance on top of everything else. My child has medication allergies.
So, all these are my biggest reasons to always search for natural remedies and natural ways to recover first.
I transformed from someone who relied solely on conventional medicine to a passionate hobby herbalist, always searching for ways to live a healthy, resilient, and nature-connected life.
So, I left my corporate job, the big cities, moved with my family to a small village on a small half-island, and try to walk outside daily for at least 2 hours. We have a small organic herb garden that gives fresh herbs all year round.
My Guiding Philosophy
I believe the most important things in life are to:
- Keep learning and growing – for yourself and for your family
- Live a full, natural life that is connected to the real world and nature around you
- Be a good person and do what you can to help others
- Be there for yourself and your family – because a full cup can fill others.
This blog is a reflection of that philosophy. Here, you’ll find a blend of my experiences all aimed at helping you build a happy, healthy, and resilient family.
Thank you for being here! I’m so glad to share my knowledge with you.
Love,
Iva
